Love
It kinda sucks
You like a guy
And he likes you
You get all excited
You go out
It's goin good
Or at least that is what you think
You break up
You play it off like it is no big deal
But inside, you are hurting
The feelings that you had for him are still there
Even though he is not
He likes another girl
They go out
You feel as though your heart is being ripped out
But you can't tell anyone how you feel
They break up
You get excited
Maybe you could have another chance with him
But then, he likes someone else
And this one is more serious
They go out for a long time
All you can do is watch
And silently hope that they will break it off soon
When they do, you take a deep breath
Maybe now…
But he doesn't know
He doesn't know that he is all you think about
When the phone rings, you pray that it is him
When you go to bed you wonder if he ever is thinking about you
He will never know unless you tell him
And that idea scares you
What if he doesn't like you anymore…
But what if he does?

Today in Highlands Ranch, another girl was diagnosed with the like syndrome. She was in her language arts class when she said like 14 times in one minute. She was immediately rushed to the emergency room where her doctor diagnosed her. “She is one of the worst cases I’ve seen” said Dr. Valleyboy. The like syndrome, for those of you who have been lucky enough not to cross it’s path, is a syndrome thats affecting more than 3/4 of America’s adolescence. It is a highly contagious bug that causes the host to use the word ‘like’ as a pause rather than an actually meaning excessively . For example “I am like so pissed of cuz she like, was totally being a jerk and I was like oh my gosh, just chill out! Its not like that big of a deal!” It is so unfortunate when someone you love is diagnosed. I don’t think that anyone takes it harder than the parents. “She was just a normal girl who loved to play sports. I don’t know when it hit her, she never use to say like, but all of a sudden, she said it 5 times in one sentence and I thought I was protecting her by not taking her to the doctors, but… I guess I shoulda taken her in, maybe we could have caught it early. She is wavering and is in the contagious period, so I can’t even talk to my baby! Excuse me…” was all that her mother was able to tell us before she burst into tears. The name of the girl is being held confidential.
There is another girl who had a similar case, though her ending is a parents worst dream. Her name was Veronica and she lived in Dayton, Ohio with her parents and older brother Scott. She was a tomboy, she always had her hair up, sporty clothes on and dirt on her face. ”She never said like,” recalled her brother, “she was always playin football with the guys and didn’t have time to say like.” Then one day, she got the bug. ”I remember every detail. We were sitting at the kitchen tabel eating KFC, when all of a sudden she said ‘This is like really good!’ We were proud of her at first because we thought that she was becoming more of a girl,” said Paul. “Then she just started saying like in a row, ‘like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like…’ and we were all flabergasted. We immediatly called 911, but when they came, they told us it was too late. The bug had consumed Veronica’s identity. She slowly began to say like in every sentence, flip her hair around, wear nice clothes, and talk in the fake, valleygirl voice.
This syndrome is sweeping the nation. The best thing you can do to protect yourself is by not saying like as a pause at all. Also it is best to seperate yourself from anyone who does, for it can become highly contagious. If you do get like syndrome, then you must be ready for intense theropy. It may take weeks of rehab to break the habit and force the bug out. BEWARE OF THE LIKE SYNDROME AND KNOW THE SYMPTOMS! For more information go to www.likelikelikelike.com
